Cancer Pain 101 Class
Thank you for considering attending our class. We have 2 ways that you can attend the class: research or non-research. Read the details below to learn more.
Research Participation
Our research team is developing a pain education class to help patients with cancer manage their pain.
The purpose of this study is to see whether pain education delivered in a one-time virtual class is helpful to patients, and to get feedback about how to make it better.
If you agree to participate in our research study, you will be involved in this research study for 4 weeks.
During that 4 weeks we ask you to engage in the following activities:

Attend one 90-minute Cancer Pain 101 virtual (telehealth/video) class

Complete 3 surveys:

Baseline survey: You will be asked to complete a survey (via email). The survey will include questions about who you are and the pain you experience.

Surveys 2 and 3: They will be similar to the baseline survey. Survey 2 will be sent to your email 2 weeks after the class, and survey 3 will be sent to your email 4 weeks after the class.

After attending the class, you may be invited for a 30 minute virtual interview about your experience. However, this is not a requirement of the study.
Compensation: You can receive up to $75 in Amazon.com gift cards. You will receive $50 after completing the baseline survey and attending the class, and an additional $25 if you complete Surveys 2 and 3 at the end of the study.

Non-Research Attendance
We have an option for those who would like to attend the class, but not be involved in research. If you decide to participate during this method, you can attend a one-time virtual (telehealth/video) class that reviews cancer pain education.
You will be asked to complete one survey about who you are and your pain experience. After that you would not be asked to complete additional surveys, interviews or be eligible for compensation.
